Free Professional Development for Teachers by Teachers

EdCamp Vermont is an unconference.

What Does That Mean?

Come enjoy a day with colleagues from the tri-state area and beyond. Arrive with an idea for a session that you would like to lead or with the anticipation of a full day of learning. A session might explore a technology tool, a discussion about best practices, or a collaborative presentation with multiple facilitators.

During the first hour, you will have time to meet other teachers over coffee. There will be an empty session board where you and all attendees can post session titles.

Over the course of the day, you will have the opportunity to attend up to four sessions. The rule of the unconference is to “vote with your feet.” If a session doesn’t meet your needs, simply get up and move on to another room.

You will learn something new, maybe make a new friend, and receive information that you can immediately apply in your classroom and professional life!

What is the Cost?

EdCamp Vermont is free. We will even provide coffee and lunch.

What Should I Bring?

Bring a friend. A laptop with wireless Internet is useful. It will allow you to view the session board online, take notes, and view websites discussed throughout the day.

How Do I Register?

Visit our website edcampvt.posterous.com and click on the Register link to reserve your space. Registration is limited.

Advocacy
Part of the mission of ASCD and VT ASCD is continued advocacy for students. We encourage you to sign the Whole Child Petition. Your signature on the petition sends a message to Washington leaders to focus on what really matters―our children―by asking them to create a President’s Council on the Whole Child. Sign the petition and spread the word – we have until February 18 to get 25,000 signatures!

In closing, I am very excited about the new direction of our organization. Please spread the word to your colleagues to participate, but also encourage them to join VT ASCD. Working together we all can make Vermont education the best education for our students

@betavt

We are the Vermont division of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization representing more than 175,000 educators from 119 countries and nearly 60 affiliates. Members span the entire profession of educators: superintendents, supervisors, principals, teachers, professors of education, and school board members.

We address all aspects of effective teaching and learning, such as professional development, educational leadership, and capacity building. ASCD offers broad, multiple perspectives—across all education professions—in reporting key policies and practices. Because we represent all educators, we are able to focus solely on professional practice within the context of "Is it good for the children?" rather than what is reflective of a specific educator role. In short, ASCD reflects the conscience and content of education.
